While I’m wrapping my mind around larger projects, I always seem to need to work with my hands on a smaller project. For instance, when I was managing the construction of my first office building, I began the “Sole Series.” It is a series of seven imagined “soles” of the shoes of my four grandparents, my parents and me. Each sole is quilted, torn, embroidered and/or stuffed to represent the spirit of each of these people.
Stitching this series helped me stay sane and grounded in thread and fabric while the rest of my world was total chaos.
Now that I’m working on a couple of books, I needed to distract my mind again and began stitching a series of circles. I think. I’m never sure where these projects are going but I love how they help me trust in the process of discovery.
Can you guess what those iridescent circles are?
